Friend,

Donald Trump’s latest nominee for a powerful federal office is raising
serious red flags – and for good reason.

He’s nominated far-right political operative Ed Martin to serve as U.S.
Attorney for the District of Columbia, a role that holds enormous
authority over criminal prosecutions in the nation’s capital. And Martin’s
record makes one thing clear: he is unfit to serve.

Martin has maintained a close relationship with Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, a
January 6 insurrectionist who was convicted on multiple charges and widely
reported to have expressed white supremacist and antisemitic views. Martin
has continued to elevate Hale-Cusanelli even after his conviction –
presenting him with an award at Trump’s Bedminster club in 2024 and
calling him “an extraordinary man, an extraordinary leader.” ^[1]

He has spent years elevating dangerous conspiracy theories and attacking
the civil rights leaders and movements that have pushed our country
forward. This is not someone who should be anywhere near the levers of
federal law enforcement.

As interim U.S. Attorney, Martin has already shown how dangerous he is in
this role. He’s fired prosecutors involved in January 6 cases, launched a
sham “election integrity” unit to revive Trump’s baseless 2020 conspiracy
theories, and even referred to his office as “President Trump’s lawyers.”
According to The New York Times, he has used the power of the office to
seek retribution against Trump’s perceived enemies – putting political
loyalty over the rule of law.

[ [link removed] ]Add your name: The Senate must vote NO on Ed Martin. >>

If confirmed, Martin would oversee prosecutions involving corruption,
civil rights violations, election-related crimes, and more. This office is
responsible for some of the most politically sensitive and consequential
cases in the country.

Putting a MAGA extremist in that seat – especially someone who defended
the January 6 attack – is an outright threat to justice and democracy.

Thanks for speaking out,
