I wanted to give you a quick update on a vote we took in the House of Representatives last week. I supported, and voted for the SAVE Act—a bill focused on making sure our elections are secure and that only eligible U.S. citizens are voting in federal elections.
This is about protecting the integrity of our elections. The bill strengthens ID requirements, ensures that only U.S. citizens are voting by requiring proof of citizenship, and helps clean up voter rolls. It’s not about making it harder to vote—it’s about making sure every vote counts and that the system works the way it’s supposed to.
This bill seems like common sense, yet 208 Democrats voted against it. It is unbelievable that this is what we are up against.
I’ve heard from a lot of folks who are concerned about election security. While there is more work to be done, I believe this is a first step in the right direction. We all want to have confidence that our elections are safe, secure, and trustworthy. I am committed to continuing this fight.
