Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. Last week, we took important steps to move the America First agenda forward. In the House, we passed the No Rogue Rulings Act to prevent federal district judges from issuing nationwide injunctions unilaterally. I also backed significant legislation to secure federal elections. The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, mandates proof of U.S. citizenship for federal voter registration and empowers states to remove noncitizens from voter rolls. Finally, we took another procedural step to advance the budget resolution, which paves the way to extend the tax cuts for all Americans. This unlocked the reconciliation process, and now the hard work to draft and enact this measure begins. Please keep reading for more updates:

IMPROVING WEATHER FORECASTING AND DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

TAME EXTREME WEATHER AND WILDFIRES ACT graphic

As extreme weather events and wildfires increasingly threaten communities across the country, accurate and timely forecasting has never been more critical. That’s why I introduced the TAME Extreme Weather and Wildfires Act, a bipartisan bill designed to revolutionize weather forecasting and disaster preparedness using cutting-edge artificial intelligence. This legislation directs the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to develop a domestic global weather dataset and collaborate with the private sector and academia to create AI-powered forecasting tools. By doing so, we can ensure faster, more precise forecasts and reduce reliance on foreign data, strengthening our ability to respond to these disasters here at home. REINING IN ROGUE DISTRICT COURT JUDGES

The American people elected President Trump and sent Republican majorities to deliver on the America First Agenda, yet individual district judges have been blocking key executive actions with sweeping nationwide injunctions. These rulings undermine voters' will and skew the constitutional balance of power. That’s why I supported the No Rogue Rulings Act (NORRA), which stops district courts from issuing such injunctions and allows a three-judge panel to consider broader injunctions only when multiple states challenge federal actions. These cases would then be eligible for direct appeal to the Supreme Court, providing swift resolutions at the highest level. This bill protects our constitutional balance and prevents a single judge from overriding the will of the people. Click here to learn more.

SECURING AMERICAN ELECTIONS

Free, fair and secure elections are the cornerstone of our democratic republic, and every American deserves to have confidence that their vote counts and that elections are free from undue influence. Unfortunately, many states still have noncitizens on their voter rolls due to inadequate safeguards, even though the vast majority of Americans oppose noncitizen voting. That’s why I voted for the SAVE Act, which requires states to verify citizenship when registering individuals to vote in federal elections. This is not a partisan issue—it’s a crucial step to protect the voice of every lawful voter. I urge the Senate to pass this bill and send it to the president’s desk. Click here to learn more.
