John – I’m so proud to tell you about my new piece of legislation: the GOSAFE Act, that I introduced with Sens. Martin Heinrich, Michael Bennett, Angus King, and Mark Kelly.

I made a promise to my son: that I would take action in honor of victims of gun violence to prevent more families from experiencing the same tragic loss that I have.

Despite all the chaos going on with Trump and his administration, I am still fighting for the American people, and won’t let him and his cronies be a distraction from that responsibility. This bill is designed to keep lethal weapons from people who shouldn’t have them, while still honoring the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens. The goal of the legislation is to cut off loopholes that allow manufactures to get around gun safety regulation.

Republicans have done crazy things to try to oust me from my seat before – including literally redrawing the lines. You know as well as I do that this bill will put them on the offensive.
