Every day, President Trump and Elon Musk’s DOGE are taking a hammer to government programs that millions of people rely on, with zero regard for the consequences.
So far, DOGE has nearly eliminated the Department of Education and USAID, closed Social Security field offices, and cut billions of dollars of life-saving medical research from the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. Amidst the chaotic cuts, it seems the only things not on the chopping block are Elon Musk’s $38 billion in government contracts.
And along the way, they’ve made life-threatening mistakes. Elon Musk’s DOGE “accidentally” fired officials tracking Ebola and bird flu, nuclear bomb specialists, and the people who answer calls at the VA suicide hotline. People should be FIRED for mistakes like that.
That’s why I introduced the Delete DOGE Act (H.R. 2601).
My new bill would defund DOGE and stop Musk from stealing from the American people to pay for tax cuts for billionaires like himself.
Let’s be clear: I want the government to be more efficient. In fact, I’ve been fighting for government reforms since I took office. But we need reform, not tearing down the programs that people need to survive and thrive.
That’s unacceptable, and it’s why I will continue to do everything I can to stop Elon Musk and President Trump’s slash-and-burn approach to government programs.
