We know the news cycle in the Trump era is hard if not impossible to keep up with.

On Thursday, the House of Representatives voted to pass the ‘SAVE Act’. If it becomes law, the bill would disenfranchise millions of voters across the country and severely undermine our democracy for years to come. Shamefully, four Democrats decided to sell out their constituents by voting for the Republican bill.
The legislation is part of a longstanding GOP plan to suppress voter turnout that would effectively end online and mail voter registration, mandate faulty voter roll purges, and exclude millions of citizens — Democrats and Republicans alike — from access to the ballot box if they don’t have the proper documents.
Approximately 21.3 million Americans — more than 9% of voters — do not have such documents readily available.
As of now, the bill faces an uncertain future in the Senate, but we’re not taking any chances.
We’re mobilizing against this anti-democratic legislation by urging folks like you to take action. Can you take a quick moment to send a message to your senators telling them to STOP the SAVE Act from becoming law?
Voters of color, trans people, disabled and rural voters and the tens of millions who change their names upon getting married would be disproportionately affected.
This bill comes as Donald Trump separately signed a series of executive orders designed to make voting more difficult.
The goal of all of these efforts is clear.
This isn’t about “safeguarding” or “protecting” our elections from illegal voting and voter fraud — both of which are exceedingly rare.
But that's NOT how democracy works.
This bill is an existential threat to our rights and freedoms and it cannot be ignored. The SAVE Act would undermine voters’ ability to participate in free and fair elections.
John, voting is a right, not a privilege. We won’t allow the far-right to trample our democracy. And we’re going to fight like hell to make sure they fail in passing the SAVE Act. But we need your help.
