John,
Last week, the U.S. House passed the SAVE Act—a bill that would require voters to show documentary proof of citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections.
That’s deeply disappointing news. But I want to thank you for taking action around last week’s emails.
We raised awareness, armed voters with the facts, and made it clear: this bill would throw up barriers for tens of millions of eligible Americans—especially women, seniors, and low-income voters—without solving any significant problem.
I’ll always keep fighting for the right to vote. And I’m proud to share that our efforts were recognized by The Star Tribune this week:
“Cheers to Secretary of State Steve Simon, whose knowledge, integrity and commitment are a continuing inspiration... He pointed out that noncitizen voting in Minnesota is rare... Simon’s always ready with the data.” (Star Tribune, 4/10/25)
We’re not backing down. If the SAVE Act moves forward, we’ll be ready. That’s why I need your support. Will you chip in $10 or more today so we can keep pushing back against attacks on voting rights?
If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will be processed now. |
With gratitude,
Steve
