Since the conflict in Sudan began, a child has been forced to flee their home every 10 seconds.
Asma’s* husband was at work when the fighting reached their city. Terrified and heavily pregnant, she had no choice but to set out alone on a perilous journey with her five children – on foot and empty-handed.
After two months of trekking, they finally arrived at a mobile health unit, where Asma gave birth to beautiful baby Sara*.
Her family has grown… but until she finds her husband, it’ll never be whole. “To this day, he still does not know that he has a new child,” Asma says.
John, this deadly conflict has torn families like Asma’s apart. Every child in Sudan is more vulnerable than ever to severe hunger, exploitation, emotional trauma and abuse.
Like so many mothers around the world, Asma just wants a peaceful place for Sara and her siblings to grow up in.
“I wish for good health, wellness and a bright future for Sudan,” she shares, “and for us to return to our homes.”
