Dear Members of the EMILYs List Community,
My name is Adele McClure, and I proudly represent the 2nd District in the Virginia House of Delegates. I'm honored to have the opportunity to share a little bit about myself with you — and deeply humbled to have been named the winner of the 2025 Gabrielle Giffords Rising Star Award.
I am currently running for reelection for my second term as a state legislator to continue serving the very community where I was raised. Growing up in Northern Virginia, the daughter of a resilient early childhood educator and a Filipino immigrant and veteran, I witnessed firsthand the systemic barriers faced by families like mine. Those lived experiences have shaped who I am — and who I fight for every single day.
You can help Democratic pro-choice women like me win nationwide by supporting EMILYs List with a donation. Join the movement today:

This election year is a pivotal moment for Virginia. With so much at stake, now more than ever, we need strong, Democratic pro-choice women leading the charge. EMILYs List recognizes this urgency — they've already endorsed 11 Democratic women in Virginia alone, including Abigail Spanberger for governor. That's a powerful statement about what's possible when we invest in bold women who are ready to lead.
Since my historic election in 2023 — becoming the first Black person since Reconstruction and the first Asian person to represent Arlington County in the Virginia General Assembly — I've focused on the most pressing challenges facing our communities: affordable housing, consumer protections, workers' rights, child care, and gun violence prevention.
I've worked to champion common sense, progressive bills to improve maternal health care, expand the rights of tenants, increase access to essential services, and more. After the 2025 General Assembly session, I was proud to rank among the top legislators for bills passed — progress made possible by deep collaboration with community members and advocacy partners.
I am where I am today because of the fierce, inspiring women in my life — including those I serve alongside in the General Assembly. Their leadership reminds us why it is absolutely critical to elect more bold, thoughtful women who lead with purpose and resolve. Representation matters, and our work today will echo through generations of young girls who deserve to see their experiences reflected in the leaders who represent them.
We're building something bigger than one campaign or one legislative session. We're building a future where equity and justice are within reach for everyone. We are called to uplift one another, to amplify each others' voices, and to stand arm-in-arm as we strive to protect our progress. It starts with us, and I am so honored to be a part of the movement that EMILYs List represents that is powered by a diverse coalition of women who refuse to take "no" for an answer.
If you're able, please help us keep the momentum and support EMILYs List with a donation of any amount today.
