Dear John,
 
I am writing to you to make my position clear on proposals to close several nurseries across the Borders.
 
I am completely opposed to these plans from the local council, which would inconvenience many parents and leave them struggling for childcare.
 
Some families may also choose to relocate and it may prevent people from moving to small towns in the future.

Local communities are completely opposed to these plans and I am disappointed that councillors, including from the SNP and my own party, are not listening to these concerns.

We should be protecting rural services, not closing them down.

These proposals should be abandoned immediately.
