All Americans, whether they happen to live in a red or blue area, deserve straight answers from their elected officials.
Unfortunately, my Republican colleagues have been running scared from their constituents for months.
So, this weekend, I travelled to Dixon and Carterville to offer an alternative to Trump’s message of hate and fear.

These were the first two installments in the Tough Conversations Tour, a series of town halls I’m hosting in deep-red districts across Illinois.
Will you pitch in $10 ahead of our next event so we can have these tough (but essential) conversations across Illinois? [[link removed]]

We had a strong kickoff weekend, folks. The turnout was great, and our conversation was civil and informative. Folks asked about cuts to education, energy reform, healthcare, jobs, veterans’ benefits, USPS, national security, civil liberties, and mass deportations; and a few opened up about their broader anxieties regarding America’s future.
These discussions were about more than the issues at hand. They were about the common humanity we still share, no matter how divided we are. They were about respect, compassion, and rebuilding the bridges Trump has burned in our communities.
I shared this Deval Patrick quote in Dixon: We live in a society that screams hatred, but whispers love.
Easy to forget these days, I know. But I’m determined to continue reminding folks of all that still unites us.
To that end, will you invest $10 to make sure the next installments of the Tough Conversations Tour is even more impactful than the first? These are entirely campaign-funded, so I’m counting on your support . [[link removed]]
