
If you live or run a business in Los Angeles County that was affected by January's wildfires, you may qualify for a tax extension.
FEDERAL TAXES
The IRS is extending deadlines to file and pay certain taxes. Any tax deadlines between January 7, 2025, and October 15, 2025, are now postponed to October 15, 2025 — giving you more time to get caught up.

CALIFORNIA TAXES
Los Angeles County individuals and businesses impacted by fires that began on January 7, 2025, qualify for a postponement to both file and pay taxes until October 15, 2025.
Note: Only Los Angeles County was granted the postponement to file and pay taxes until October 15, 2025. Taxpayers with their principal residence or their principal place of business located outside of Los Angeles County must file and pay by the normal due dates

Los Angeles County has launched the Right of Entry form for residents impacted by the Eaton Fire to sign up for the no-cost debris removal program.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will clear debris from your property at no cost, whether or not you have insurance that covers clean-up. Make sure to sign up by Tuesday, April 15th.

If You Choose to Opt-Out:
Residents can choose to opt out of the free debris removal program and instead hire a private, approved contractor to clear the fire debris.
However, please note:
- You will not be reimbursed by federal or state disaster funds if you opt out.
- You must follow all rules, regulations, and the "Management of Los Angeles County Wildfire Debris" guidelines for private debris removal.
