You and I have witnessed incredible medical advancements, including life-saving fetal surgeries, AI-powered early disease detection, and personalized genomic medicine that can predict health outcomes from birth.
And yet, with all this progress, Black women in the U.S. are still 3x more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women. And Black toddlers are more than twice as likely to die before their first birthday.
Most heartbreaking of all, it’s estimated that 80% of these deaths are preventable.
Today, we're launching a campaign to raise $5,000 by April 17 to address this tragic reality, and we need your help.

At Start Early, we're changing these odds through our culturally responsive doulas and home visitors. These champions for Black mothers don’t just provide support – they advocate within a healthcare system that too often dismisses Black women's pain and concerns.
Your renewed support will help change the odds for Black mothers and their families:

$20 – Provides an hour of literacy support for families living in under-resourced communities

$50 – Provides a home visit for a family living in an under-resourced community to ensure they have the support and resources needed to help their child thrive from birth

$65 – Provides a doula visit for a pregnant woman living in an under-resourced community to help ensure they are ready for the transition to motherhood
-
$190 – Provides a child with a day of quality early learning through our Educare program to ensure they are ready to thrive in kindergarten and beyond
