Phil Weiser for Colorado

Dear friend,

Coloradans often ask me: How can I make a difference and stand up to the harmful, lawless actions of the Trump Administration? My answer is simple: our democracy is a team sport, and we need you on the field.

This Wednesday, April 16th, I’m hosting a Community Impact Hearing in Denver with members of the public. And a few of my State AG colleagues–Washington Attorney General Nick Brown, Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, and Hawaii Attorney General Anne Lopez–are joining me there. This hearing is your chance to share your concerns and experiences, and to point out how the Trump Administration’s continued unlawful actions impact our communities.

Please RSVP here. And please spread the word to other concerned Coloradans and invite them join you:

This hearing is part of a series in which state Attorneys General are showing up in communities to understand the real-world effects of these illegal actions. Whether you’re a federal employee who illegally was laid off or fired, a veteran whose benefits and services were impacted, a wildland firefighter whose job was cut, a senior struggling with Social Security access, or someone who relies on Meals on Wheels or other critical services targeted for defunding by DOGE and Elon Musk, we want to hear your story. Time and time again, AGs have proven to be the first and last defense against the attacks on our democratic republic.

Your input is so important. When I went to court to stop the Kroger-Albertsons mega-grocery store merger, I relied on feedback from 19 town halls and thousands of Coloradans. Just like how we pushed back on that merger, these community meetings will inform and inspire our work to hold the Trump Administration accountable.

When deciding whether to take action in court against the Trump Administration, I ask one simple question, as I explained to Fox31: “Did the federal government violate the law in a way that harms Colorado?” Sadly, far too often the answer is “yes.”

I will always show up for and fight for Colorado. Please join us this Wednesday and spread the word about the Community Impact Hearing.  And thank you for being an engaged Coloradan–your voice is needed now more than ever.

PS: We will host two more upcoming town halls across Colorado this month—in Durango on Saturday, April 26th, and Colorado Springs on Tuesday, April 29th. If you are interested in attending or helping to spread the word to others in the area, please reach out.
