Dear AFSCME Family,
Billionaires and anti-union extremists are coming for us. Our jobs, our benefits, even our freedom to form a union are under attack.
Now, Congress is considering gutting Medicaid, food assistance, and other public services, all to fund more tax breaks for billionaires.
For AFSCME members, that means hiring freezes, layoffs, and tougher contract negotiations.
We can’t let Congress line the pockets of the rich and ask our nation’s nurses, school custodians, and corrections officers to pay the price.
We have to fight back. We need the entire AFSCME family to Get Organized. Learn how.
Through our Get Organized campaign — or AFSCME GO — we’re fighting back in the courts, in our communities, and in Congress.
But we can’t do it alone. We need you in this fight.
Here are three ways you can take action:
-
Call Congress at (202)-559-1165 and tell them: no gutting public services to fund billionaire tax breaks!
-
Talk to your co-workers who aren’t yet AFSCME members. The more workers join our union, the more power we have to negotiate strong contracts and stop harmful budget cuts.
-
Contribute to PEOPLE — and ask others to join you. Billionaires like Elon Musk think they can buy our elections. PEOPLE is how we defeat them.
AFSCME family, we've faced challenges before. But we never shy away from a fight. Our communities are counting on us. And when we get organized, there is no stopping us.
In solidarity,
Lee Saunders
