Dear Accountability Advocate,
An hour after OpenSecrets published a story ([link removed]) about a super PAC that hid its donors from voters, the group filed a late report with the Federal Election Commission. “Undivided Purpose,” a newly formed super PAC aligned with Georgia Senate candidate Teresa Tomlinson, filed its pre-primary report last Wednesday, disclosing its donors to the FEC long after the deadline had passed. Over $90,000 worth of ads have been spent by the super PAC in the lead up to today’s primary in Georgia.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution who picked up the story, the super PAC’s activities has drawn criticism from Tomlinson’s competitors in a race that has been free of sharp attacks between primary opponents. The criticism came when it was revealed that Undivided Purpose had ties to the candidate it is supporting and uses the same political consultants as her campaign.

Like countless super PACs before it, Undivided Purpose exploited lax FEC enforcement and weak coordination rules to delay disclosure of its funders to the electorate. Our investigations have documented multiple cases of super PACs that abuse loopholes to keep their donors hidden until after Election Day. We will continue to hold groups like Undivided Purpose accountable by tracking the data and calling them out in our reporting when they try to duck the rules.

This is a win for transparency — but we’ve got a battle ahead. In the 2020 election cycle we expect to see more super PACs creatively dodging election regulations. Your help allows OpenSecrets to continue the work needed to expose groups who don’t disclose donor data. We all deserve to know who is behind ads trying to influence our vote.

Thank you for all of your support this primary election cycle.
With gratitude,
