You might know me best as Richard Splett from Veep... earnest guy, strong moral compass, tendency to accidentally spill national secrets? That guy. But more importantly, I’m a proud born and raised Detroiter, and I am honored to support my friend Mallory McMorrow as she runs to be Michigan’s next U.S. Senator..

Mallory and I go back a few years now. And let me tell you, since I’ve known her, she’s been showing up for Michigan in a big way.

In 2018, she pulled off what nobody thought was possible—flipping a Republican-held state Senate seat (that included Mitt Romney’s actual hometown).

She took on an incumbent state Senator who refused to do anything about the epidemic of gun violence, who sided with corporate polluters over protecting clean water, and won.

And when Mallory went viral for a speech she gave on the Senate floor in 2022, she didn’t use it to just help herself. My buddy and Detroiters co-creator Tim Robinson and I got involved to help Mallory and Michigan Democrats flip the entire state Senate for the first time in 40 years. (It was a virtual Detroiters reunion, and y’all were great)

Now, Mallory is stepping up again—because let’s be honest: the old way of doing things? It’s not cutting it.

While Trump and Elon Musk are out here trying to burn the place down, Mallory is building something better. A Michigan where working hard doesn’t just mean you’re getting by – but that you can actually build a life you want to live. Start a family. Buy a home. Rent where you want. Drive the car you want. Build a career you’re proud of. Maybe even head to that little place Up North.

No one aspires to just get by. Mallory believes we need to think bigger, dream bigger, and lay out a vision for the New American Dream that you can see yourself in, something you’ll want to vote for.

Right now, we’re at a crossroads.
