Folks, in their quest to punish America’s nonpartisan civil servants, Trump and Musk have hollowed out our federal government and left millions of Americans struggling to access services they need to survive.

Now, tens of thousands of talented public servants have been unjustly fired. But these purges are not only counterproductive and shameful; they are illegal. 

That’s why I recently joined with my colleagues in Maryland and Virginia to introduce the MERIT Act, which would:

Reverse Trump’s illegal purges of federal workers

 Restore federal workers to their positions

 Provide back pay to cover lost wages

America’s patriotic public servants keep our economy running, our food supply safe, and our air and waterways clean.  

They’ve dedicated their lives to serving us. We must not abandon them in their hour of need.
