News From Congressman Bilirakis

Dear Neighbor,

It was another busy week in Washington during which I worked with my colleagues to safeguard our elections process, limit the ability of obstructionist judges to issue politically-motivated national injunctions, protect consumers, improve patients’ access to diagnostic testing, and help children with poor vision.   Continue reading to learn more about these important priorities and other efforts on your behalf last week.

Safeguarding our Elections Process:  American citizens — and only American citizens — should decide American elections. The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act passed the House last week with my support.  This commonsense legislation requires individuals to provide proof of US citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections.

Thwarting Obstructionist Judges:  Week after week, the American people are seeing federal judges issue nationwide injunctions that block President Trump from implementing the America First policy agenda he promised to deliver.  The No Rogue Rulings Act passed the House last week with my support.  It prevents partisan judges from abusing their authority and issuing politically motivated, nationwide injunctions by blocking federal judges from issuing injunctions that extend beyond specific parties involved in a case.  A single, activist judge should not be able to abuse their power and subvert the will of the American people by unilaterally issuing rulings that affect the entire nation.  With this important legislation, we are restoring balance to the judicial system and upholding the system of checks and balances that safeguard our democracy.

Demanding Accountability:  Biden’s VA lied about a $3B shortfall, scaring Veterans to get more taxpayer money from Congress. Now we know there was NEVER a shortfall. Using veterans as pawns is disgusting.  We must hold those responsible for this incompetence and deceit accountable.

Facilitating a Full Recovery from Hurricanes:  Last week, the Florida Congressional Delegation met with senior officials from FEMA to discuss hurricane recovery and resilience. We emphasized that many of our constituents are still struggling and that there needs to be improved coordination between federal, state and local officials to facilitate a full recovery from these unprecedented disasters.

Investing in Critical Infrastructure:  In last week’s Energy and Commerce hearing, we discussed the future of AI technology, human discovery, and American global competitiveness. AI represents our next chance to lead the world and create a generation of growth and prosperity. In order to harness this potential, it’s critical that we invest in the right infrastructure needed to meet AI’s demands, including producing more baseload electricity, building advanced networks, and producing next generation semiconductors.  Click here to listen to my exchange with the expert panelists.

Putting Kids First:  I recently refiled bipartisan legislation to help identify and address visual impairments in children.  Early identification and treatment can make a huge difference in improving outcomes.

Ensuring Access to Diagnostic Testing:  I’m working on legislation to improve vulnerable patients’ access to diagnostic testing.  Early identification and diagnosis of disease can make all the difference in patient outcomes. Click here to learn more.

Preparing Future Leaders:  A special thanks to the students and parents who participated in my Military Service Academy Night last week.  We have many bright students in our community who are eager to serve our nation.  I appreciate their passion and patriotism.

Protecting Consumers:  Last week, my TICKET Act passed out of the Energy and Commerce Committee.  It will codify into law President Trump’s Executive Order that will help improve transparency and consumer protection in the entertainment ticketing industry.

It is also important to remember that fraudsters are hard at work, using new technologies to prey upon the vulnerable Floridians.  This story includes some helpful tips to avoid becoming a victim.  Seniors in Florida’s 12th Congressional district are also invited to attend my upcoming Senior Forum to learn more about how to protect themselves.

Raising Awareness:  This month, we shine a light on the millions of people living with Parkinson's disease, their families, and caregivers. It’s a time to raise awareness, spread hope, and educate ourselves about this neurological condition that affects movement, balance, and coordination.  Let’s come together to share stories, support research, and advocate for better treatments and care. Every step forward counts in the fight against Parkinson’s!

Community Connection

I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.

My team attended the opening of Wilton Simpson Technical College in Brooksville.

My team also listened to the Hernando County Administrator, Jeff Rogers, give an update on the county's five year strategic plan during last month's Chamber of Commerce Breakfast.

Additionally, my team enjoyed hearing from local small businessowners at a recent Nature Coast Rotary meeting.

Constituent Corner

My team recently received this message after helping a Pasco County family obtain a tour of the White House.

Just want to thank you and Congressman Bilirakis for giving us an opportunity to visit the White House. We had an amazing time and can’t thank you enough.

This  is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you!

Sincerely,
