When I was first elected to Congress in 2014, I was one of only eleven freshman House members of color. In 2018, when you helped elect the most diverse Congress in history, that number doubled -- year by year, little by little, Congress is beginning to look more like America.

Five freshman House members of color in particular -- Antonio Delgado (NY-19), Lucy McBath (GA-06), Xochitl Torres Small (NM-02), Lauren Underwood (IL-14), and Andy Kim (NJ-03) -- made history in 2018 by winning in some of the most competitive districts in the country. And as we look ahead to November, we need to ensure that Antonio, Lucy, Xochitl, Lauren, and Andy have the resources they need to continue fighting for their communities.

That’s why our campaign has teamed up with these candidates for an ambitious, one-day fundraising push: We’re aiming to raise $150,000 in grassroots donations before midnight tonight -- will you split a contribution of $10 or more today to help Andy, Antonio, Lucy, Xochtil, and Lauren protect our Democratic majority?

Right now, especially in these times of crisis, we need Congress to actually reflect the working families that we represent -- and we need Andy, Antonio, Lucy, Xochtil, and Lauren’s voices at the table. But the dark money groups that launched vicious, false attacks against these candidates of color last cycle are back at it again, and we need money to fend off the GOP machine.
