John,

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is the time I get to spend traveling across New Jersey and meeting with constituents. Whether it's walking through one of our incredible downtowns, standing with activists at a rally, or answering your questions at a town hall, every event in New Jersey fills me with pride and determination to show up every day for the people of my state in the United States Senate.

This year, the people of New Jersey are clear: we must bring down costs and defend essential programs that provide critical services to New Jerseyans and bring federal investments to New Jersey.

When Donald Trump took office just over 80 days ago, he directed his political loyalists to gut the services on which many New Jersey communities and our neighbors rely — from Medicaid, to Social Security, to Medicare, and education, these programs and more have already faced significant and harmful cuts. Speaking in the Senate, demanding transparency, and proposing solutions to the problems we face are first steps, but I’ve found that highlighting New Jerseyans stories and personal experiences is essential to protecting the things that matter most.

I will continue to travel this state, listen to people's stories, and do whatever I can to lift them up so that our leaders will fully consider the consequences of gutting vital services and essential programs.

I hope to see you soon out on the road.

With gratitude,

Fighting for New Jersey

In East Orange, Senator Booker rallied with local and county officials to talk about the devastating effects that Trump's funding freeze would have on our communities. A funding freeze would particularly affect emergency responders; for instance, firefighters rely heavily on federal grants to fund training and purchase new equipment.

Standing alongside Medicaid enrollees at University Hospital in Newark, Senator Booker urged people to lift their voice to stop the devastating proposed cuts to Medicaid. Seniors and people with disabilities will be especially affected by any Medicaid cut: even a cut of just 5% would make medical care that more than 1.5 million New Jerseyans rely on unaffordable.

Hearing From You

More than 1,000 New Jerseyans joined Senator Booker at Bergen County Community College on April 5th to share their concerns and hear about the work Senator Booker is doing to stand up for New Jersey. Key issues addressed were reduction in services to Social Security, threatened cuts to Medicaid, and the rising costs people in New Jersey are facing.
