COVID-19 has changed so much about the way we live our lives. It’s even changing one of the most fundamental institutions in this country – our elections. As we continue the fight against coronavirus, we need to limit the time we spend in large crowds, including lines at the polling place.

That’s why policies like nationwide vote-by-mail are so critical to ensuring the health and safety of voters – and of our democracy. No American should have to choose between their health and their right to vote.

For the first time, Pennsylvania allowed for no-excuse absentee voting in last week’s primary. And while we have some important kinks to work out before November, this change was crucial to ensuring every single voter could safely cast their vote.

But given the unprecedented nature of this crisis, Congress needs to respond in an unprecedented manner: By guaranteeing that every American – regardless of where they live – can vote by mail in November.

This election is shaping up to be one of the most important in our lifetimes – and Matt’s race in PA-08 will be one of the closest toss-up races in the nation. We need Americans to feel safe and secure when casting their ballot. There is too much at stake to leave this to chance.
