Email from Rep. Van Duyne I voted to protect our democracy and restore election integrity in America   Washington, D.C.– Thank you again to all of the TX-24 families who made the trip up to our nation’s Capital to attend the 2025 Family Fly-In! I hope everyone had safe travels back to North Texas over the weekend. I had a wonderful time leading everyone on a nighttime Capitol Tour, sharing some history of the building, showing them the Rotunda, Statuary Hall, and the Speaker's Balcony. We were joined on the House Floor by House Homeland Security Chairman, Mark Green, to answer questions about the work we do in Congress. The Embassy of Australia gave our Texas-24 families a wonderful experience at the educational breakfast during our Family Fly-In! We tried authentic Australian foods, listened to panelists discuss their work in the embassy, and immersed students in Australian culture through interactive activities. On Monday, I had the chance to meet with students from the Episcopal School of Dallas. They were able to take a tour of the Capitol while on their school trip to Washinngton, D.C.! We had a joint committee hearing with the House Committee on Small Business and the Senate Committee on Small Business. We discussed how extending the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 will ensure the success of American job creators. Watch my remarks here, or by clicking on the photo below. Always great to see Texas Land Commissioner, Dawn Buckingham! She had some time to stop by and give us an update on how things are going in the Texas General Land Office. On Wednesday, we had a Ways and Means Committee hearing with U.S. Trade Rep. Ambassador Jamieson Greer. We discussed the Trump Administration Trade priorities to strengthen American businesses. I spoke about legislation I introduced to level the playing field for American workers, that will strengthen and protect companies in North Texas. You can watch my remarks by clicking here, or on the picture below. Later, I voted to pass the No Rogue Rulings Act of 2025 (NORRA). This important legislation will bring common sense to an out-of-control Judiciary that is exceeding its authority. I had the opportunity to meet with North Texans from Toyota North America, where we discussed repealing the Biden-era Zero-Emission Rule that supports California's ban on the sale of new gasoline-powered cars by 2035. Later in the week, the House took the next step in the reconciliation process and passed the Senate amended budget resolution. We also passed the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, a bipartisan effort to strengthen election integrity. You can read more in my Work of the Week below. Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, we voted to pass the SAVE Act, to protect our democracy and restore election integrity! It’s simple, only American citizens should vote in our U.S. elections. Texas-24 Hometown Hero Our Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Loretta Getchell, recently retired Euless City Manager, who dedicated 28 years to strengthening our North Texas community through leadership and service. 2025 Congressional Art Competition Each spring, our office hosts the Congressional Art Competition to recognize and encourage the artistic talents of Texas-24 high school students as they compete for an opportunity to have their artwork displayed in the heart of the U.S. Capitol. The deadline to submit artwork for this year’s competition is April 25, 2025. Learn more by clicking here or on the photo below!
