After some of the deadliest wildfires in history decimated Southern California early this year, Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s long term response was to… cut critical public safety and fire safety employees.

Mass firings of fire safety officials is truly anything but “efficient.”

U.S. Forest Service workers are on the frontlines of keeping our communities safe. Their everyday work — from cleaning up dry brush to extinguishing small fires as early as possible — helps to protect against multi-billion dollar, devastating natural disasters back at home.

So, I call B.S. on DOGE claiming that gutting the Forest Service is for the sake of “government efficiency”.

Decimating a key layer of defense against wildfires, right before the start of fire season? There’s nothing efficient about that.

I’m going to fight like hell to keep our communities safe from wildfires — and I’m asking you to join me. Will you sign my petition calling on Elon Musk to protect, not obliterate, fire protections here in Southern California?
