Dear ,
We have huge news: we just stopped the expansion of Colorado’s Gross Dam—one of the most environmentally destructive water projects in the country.
After years of legal advocacy, a federal judge has ruled in favor of Waterkeeper Alliance and our partners, revoking the permit for the project and protecting over 400 acres of forest, more than 500,000 trees, and vital wildlife habitat from being drowned under a larger reservoir. The court found that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers violated federal law when it failed to consider numerous far less damaging alternatives to the massive dam project that could have met Denver’s water needs with far fewer environmental and community impacts.
This is more than a legal win—it’s a win for clean water and the power of people who refuse to back down when rivers and communities are under threat.
But we can’t stop here. All across the globe, rivers are still under siege from outdated dam projects, pollution, and climate disruption. We need to be ready for the next fight—and we need your help.
