AG Nessel Launches Form for Reporting Social Security Disruptions
*LANSING – *Today, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel launched a new reporting form designed to collect information [ [link removed] ] from residents experiencing disruptions to their Social Security benefits or services. The form provides a direct way for Michigan residents to share their experiences and help identify ongoing issues affecting Social Security recipients in Michigan.
Since the Trump Administration began firing thousands of Social Security Administration employees earlier this year, recipients have reported a number of challenges, including delays in receiving earned benefits, difficulty contacting customer service, and disruptions in claim processing.
“Social Security supports millions of people across our state,” Nessel said. “Reports of disruptions to these benefits, directly caused by the Trump Administration’s reckless decision to fire employees with no regard for the consequences, are unacceptable. By collecting accounts from residents, my office can track trends, identify recurring issues, and better advocate for Michigan residents who rely on these essential benefits.”
The Department of Attorney General may use the information collected for future legal actions but will not share personal identifying information without consent. Residents experiencing issues with their Social Security payments or services are encouraged to report them using the form on the Department of Attorney General’s website. Residents who seek assistance with their Social Security claims or benefits should contact their representative in the U.S. House of Representatives or U.S. Senator for assistance. The Department is a state agency and is therefore unable to provide assistance for residents seeking help with federal benefits.
