Democrats and concerned citizens are stepping up and pushing back. Last Saturday over 2,000 citizens joined our Vero Beach protest to push back and tell Donald Trump "Hands OFF" social security, medicaid, reproductive rights, veterans services, healthcare and more! Check out the news coverage of our protest in VeroNews, WPTV and TCPalm.
Five days before our historic protest, we saw signs of Democratic senators stepping up too. Sen. Cory Booker gave a marathon floor speech for 25 hours and 5 minutes. His monologue served to hold up Senate business and blockade Trump’s agenda. Then, Senator Blumenthal announced his plans to place a hold on ALL Trump nominees going forward. This will force Republicans to hold individual votes to override each hold, which will greatly slow down their agenda.
Many people have asked what is next and we are excited to partner with our two sister counties to support the April 19th protests organized by the St. Lucie Dems and the Brevard Dems. We are sharing all of the details of these two events below.
In addition, be sure to SAVE THE DATE for our next Indian River County protest which will happen May 1st. More details to come!
