Legislative Update
Dear friends and neighbors,
Today is the third and final committee deadline, which is a big milestone as we head toward the May 19th adjournment. With most of the budget negotiations wrapped up in the House committees, we’re now focusing on getting those budget bills ready to move to the House floor. There’s still a lot of work to be done, and the last few weeks will definitely be a sprint. That said, we’ll have a short break next week for Easter, with no official business in St. Paul. I’m planning to take advantage of that time to meet with folks in the district and catch up on local issues.
Farm Award Winners
The Minnesota Farm Bureau recently announced their Sesquicentennial and Century Farm Award winners for 2025. The sesquicentennial award recognizes family farms in continuous family ownership for at least 150 years, be 50 acres or larger, and currently be involved in agricultural production. The century award is given to farms that are at least 100 years old according to authentic land records, in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years, have at least 50 acres, and are currently involved in agricultural production. These distinct awards were granted to the following farms in our district:
Meyer Farm in Kenyon - Alan and Andrew Meyer
Pesta Family Farm in Montgomery - Michael Pesta
Misgen Family Farm in Faribault - Dan Misgen
Rostad Farms in Zumbrota - Joel Rostad
Draper Farm in Warsaw - James and Lois Draper
Kispert Farm in Nerstand - Lloyd Kispert
Congratulations to all of our award winning farms, and thank you for your dedication to the agriculture industry.
Meeting with Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton
I had a great opportunity to meet with a group from a local high school in the district of Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton. We got to discuss issues facing these schools and how I can help from the legislature. It is always great to sit down and hear about how our schools are doing and build relationships with teachers and administrators.
Cottage Food Producers
I had a great meeting with the Minnesota Registered Cottage Food Producers Association. We got to talk about their world of food production and I got to try a few goodies, what a great trade! Thank you for taking the time to come to the Capitol and share with us.

Safety Reminder
As we head into the warmer months, I want to give you a quick reminder to be careful of slow moving traffic as farmers drive equipment on the roads. Safety is a number one priority and I urge you all to stay alert on the roads!
