Legislative Update
We officially wrapped up the work of the State Government Committee this week, and I’m excited to share some major victories in our efforts to tackle waste, fraud, and abuse across Minnesota.
At the heart of our progress is House File 3, which was adopted into the final bill. This legislation brings greater accountability by boosting oversight of state agencies and providing funding for four new full-time positions in the Office of the Legislative Auditor (OLA) — ensuring stronger fraud investigations and oversight tools.
I’m proud to report that we worked across the aisle to get this done. Even the DFL co-chair agreed to the deal, and together we achieved substantial cuts to bloated agency budgets — including eliminating 115 unfilled positions. These changes reflect our core values: fiscal responsibility, transparency, and putting taxpayers first.
This session has been about restoring integrity, demanding accountability, and ensuring that government works for the people — not the other way around.
Next week is the legislative spring break. I will continue to work hard as we finish the legislative session.
Congratulations
Joining me in my office this week was my friend Bill McDonald who coaches wrestling at Watertown-Mayer High School. I presented him a House Proclamation honoring him being named MN Coach of the Year!
