Dear John,

For years, we’ve been fighting and advocating for permanent protection of the Boundary Waters. And this week, we took a major step forward.

Senator Tina Smith introduced historic legislation to permanently protect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Voyageurs National Park from the threat of sulfide-ore copper mining.

This bill is already generating national praise. In Senator Smith’s official press release, our Executive Director Ingrid Lyons said it best:

“Senator Smith has shown unwavering leadership and commitment to the interests of Minnesotans by introducing The Boundary Waters Wilderness Protection Act. This bill is the first in nearly half a century in the U.S. Senate that broadly protects the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness."
- Ingrid Lyons, Executive Director of Save the Boundary Waters

This is the bold action we’ve been fighting for — grounded in science and overwhelmingly supported by Minnesotans who know the Boundary Waters is too precious to risk.

Now it’s up to us to make sure this momentum doesn’t stop here.

An anonymous donor has stepped up with a $75,000 triple match to help fuel our advocacy, legal defense, grassroots organizing, and communications strategy at this pivotal moment.

* Build grassroots and political support across the country
* Push back against powerful mining interests

Now is the time to go all in for the Boundary Waters. With your support, we can keep building pressure in D.C., in St. Paul, and nationwide to make sure the Boundary Waters is permanently protected once and for all.
