Y'all, It’s almost April 20th — which is the time for a 4/20 reminder that Texans consistently vote to decriminalize cannabis whenever it’s on the ballot.
But as the song goes, you can’t always get what you want — and even worse, to this day far too many Texans remain incarcerated for nonviolent cannabis offenses. The time to release them and expunge their records is now. Texas Republicans have even tried to sue cities like Dallas that voted to decriminalize. We’re one of just 19 states that still incarcerates people for small amounts of cannabis, and we currently lead the nation in annual arrests for the same. This all needs to change. Texans have spoken, and we agree: Legalize and expunge! No one should be in prison because of cannabis. Do you agree?
