Trump & Musk Torched: Reacting to Chaos, Democrats Find Their Spine--It's GloriousSome folks are born, silver spoon in hand, Lord, don't they help themselves, yeah. But when the taxman comes to the door, the house look a like a rummage sale - Creedence Clearwater Revival
BLUE LETTER* From The LA ProgressiveCLIFF’S NOTE: The Day That The Don & The Dweeb Get Flayed..By EveryoneWell, praise be and pass the ketamine, because after a way-too-slow start, Democrats have shown up with a spine and a microphone this week. And they didn't tiptoe into the fight, they unleashed a full-on verbal carpet bombing of the Axis of Narcissism: Donald Trump & Elon Musk. To paraphrase Matthew McConaughey’ Clint, from “Dazed and Confused, they showed up to kick ass and drink beer. They seem to have run outta beer… From Trump’s toddler-with-a-credit-card understanding of tariffs—Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called Trump’s tariff policy “..the worst self-inflicted wound that I have ever seen an administration impose on a well-functioning economy,”—to Elon Musk being declared “the most unlikeable person in the country” by Rep. Robert Garcia. It was on this week. Former Democratic officials, current ones, economists, gamers(!)…all decided that treating a couple of dough-brained dingos with even a modicum of respect was no longer warranted. The gloves are off, and Dems are swinging like they just remembered they're in a street fight for democracy. Maxwell Frost bodied GOP lawmakers for treating Musk like the second coming of Steve Jobs, minus the competence or charisma. Gamers—yes, gamers—are roasting Elon harder than a 12-year-old on Xbox Live (see image below). It's not just political now. It's cultural. And they’re losing. Even the Republican church mice—who’ve spent the last eight years hiding behind pews labeled “concerned” & “anonymous source”—are starting to squeak up. The Dispatch dropped an editorial that sounded like it was ghostwritten by Liz Cheney after three bourbons, warning that Trump’s descent into authoritarian cosplay is a one-way ticket to American ruin. Meanwhile, his trade rep just got publicly pantsed on live TV after unveiling new tariffs with all the strategic foresight of trying to build IKEA furniture with major head trauma and no instructions. Paul Krugman called Trump “..stupid, erratic and weak,” with his tariff policy and pathetic bluster, which is economist-speak for “this guy shouldn’t be allowed near a lemonade stand, let alone a national economy.” It’s not actually policy—it’s amateur hour at the Megalomaniac Improv Club. The best part? This sudden Democratic messaging surge didn’t just feel like a political moment—it felt like a cultural one. Democrats, Republicans, others, have been critical, but not consistently with the kind of language they’re now using. Especially the more academic types like Krugman, Yellin, et al. This feels like a long overdue reckoning. Like someone finally screamed, “Enough!” into the void and the void screamed back, “And also, Elon sucks!” The mask is slipping, the emperor has no tariffs, and finally, it seems like the people holding the mics aren't afraid to say it out loud in the harshest of terms. So now let’s turn it up to 11. Let’s not make these attacks weekly or daily, even hourly. How about constant? It will take nothing less than that to win back our democracy, and it seems many are finally realizing that. …Yo, Check This Out!
