** A message from the Founder of Denim Day, Patti Giggans:

[link removed]

Hello Friend,

Denim Day is the longest running sexual violence prevention and education campaign in history. Since 1999, the message of Denim Day has been there is no excuse and never an invitation to rape. The purpose of Denim Day is to educate, advocate, activate – and empower.

The White House recently issued a Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention month proclamation ([link removed]) , traditionally observed in April. This proclamation contained wrong and harmful misinformation.

The theme of Denim Day this year is USE YOUR VOICE. Denim Day has long challenged the lies and misconceptions surrounding sexual violence in all its forms and we must use our voices now to speak truth and dispel these dangerous myths.

Immigrants, migrants, and asylum seekers are not driving sexual violence in this country. ([link removed])

Undocumented victim/survivors are much less likely to report sexual violence. ([link removed])

Most acts of sexual violence and sexual harassment are committed by persons known to the victim/survivors. ([link removed])

Every 68 seconds another American is sexually assaulted. ([link removed])

Misinformation does not keep you safe, and in fact can obstruct and distract from the realities. Sexual violence does not discriminate: individuals from every age, community, gender, and culture are impacted.

Denim Day is a global campaign because sexual violence is a global issue. 1 in 3 women ([link removed]) and 1 in 6 men ([link removed]) will experience sexual violence in their lifetime.

Denim Day encourages us to use our voices to: support survivors, hold abusers accountable, educate ourselves and others, and challenge rape culture.

Join us and millions around the world on April 30th and participate in Denim Day in your community. Visit denimday.org now for more information and resources.
