AG Nessel Announces Appointment of Grand Traverse County Public Administrator

*LANSING* – Today, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced the recent appointment of Christopher Rogers [ [link removed] ] as Grand Traverse County Public Administrator.

“Chris’ roots in the community and extensive professional experience make him an excellent choice to serve as a public administrator,” Nessel said. “I am grateful for his commitment to Grand Traverse County and know he will serve residents well.”

County public administrators have powers and duties primarily related to intestate decedent estates where there are apparently no known heirs, including managing the determination, collection, liquidation, and/or distribution of any assets in the estate. Attorneys that serve in this capacity often have private practice responsibilities that are separate and unrelated to their appointment as county public administrator.

“I look forward to working with County Public Administrator Rogers,” said State Public Administrator Randi M. Merchant. “The Department is fortunate to have a talented and passionate pool of attorneys that serve as county public administrators across the state, and I have every confidence that Chris Rogers will be an outstanding addition to that team.”

Rogers, of Traverse City, is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law. He is admitted to the Illinois State Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan. He is also a member of the Grand Traverse-Leelanau-Antrim Bar Association. In 2010, he joined his father at the firm now known as Kuhn Rogers PLC based in Traverse City, where Rogers has practiced for the last 15 years.

Rogers practices in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, real property and property tax law, and business law. Outside of work, Rogers enjoys spending time with his family and serves in leadership positions in several volunteer organizations in the area, including the Estate Planning Council of Grand Traverse Area.

Rogers was sworn in on April 10.
