In Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, the Court will decide whether Medicaid recipients continue to have the right to choose their own health care provider. That right is under fire after South Carolina stopped Planned Parenthood from receiving Medicaid funds purely for political reasons.
This should be an open and shut case. Federal law clearly says Medicaid recipients have the right to choose their providers.
Trump’s hand-picked justices on the Supreme Court have put politics above the law before – like when they overturned Roe v. Wade. We can’t trust them not to do it again in this case, which they’re expected to decide this summer.
Millions of Americans are at risk of losing their preferred health care providers and Medicaid coverage at Planned Parenthood clinics if the Supreme Court decides to disregard the law and rule based on loyalty to Trump. We need to be loud and clear: not on our watch.
