With the sunshine finally making an appearance, it's been wonderful to see our parks and open spaces full of life over the Easter break. As families continue to enjoy the break, I’d encourage you to make the most of what our city has to offer – including the Easter Egg Hunt at Green’s Windmill, taking place from the 16 to 20 April. It’s a great way to keep little ones entertained and explore one of Nottingham’s much-loved heritage sites.
I’d also like to send my warmest wishes to everyone preparing to mark Passover on Saturday 12 April – a meaningful time of celebration, reflection, and community.
This week, I attended an event at the Dales Centre Library recognising so many of the wonderful people who volunteer. Volunteers in Nottingham play a vital and inspiring role in shaping the heart of our community. Their dedication, whether it's supporting the vulnerable, preserving local heritage, or as part of our growing Clean Champion cohort, makes huge impact right across the city.
On 14 April, Sikhs across Nottingham celebrate Vaisakhi. This marks a significant date in the Sikh calendar, with a celebration of community spirit, festivities, and reflection. Happy Vaisakhi to all celebrating!
Here at the Council, we’re continuing our work to improve access to local services and make sure support is available when and where it’s needed. Whether through digital tools, face-to-face advice, or community hubs, we remain committed to putting citizens at the heart of everything we do.
I hope you enjoy the rest of the Easter break and the sunshine while it lasts!

This Saturday 13 April, many in our community will begin observing Passover (Pesach) – an important Jewish festival that commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.
Passover is a time for reflection, storytelling, and gathering with loved ones. Across eight days, families and communities come together for special meals known as Seders, where traditions are passed down and the story of freedom is retold.
We send our warmest wishes to everyone celebrating – Chag Pesach Sameach!
