Yesterday afternoon, Kash Patel was removed as the Interim Director of the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) and replaced with Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll. The ATF plays a crucial role in enforcing gun laws, assisting local law enforcement with solving gun crimes and reducing gun trafficking throughout our States. The ATF was born out of the heroism of Special Agent Eliot Ness and his extraordinary team of agents that shut down Al Capone's reign of gun violence and terror.
This is NOT A PART-TIME JOB- Daniel Driscoll plans on performing both roles, as Army Secretary and as the new ATF director- A plan that can only mean disaster.
But this announcement is no surprise. It is just one more decision by the current administration that illustrates their commitment to choosing the gun industry over you and your children.
Earlier this week Attorney General Pam Bondi began dismantling gun policies and eliminated Biden's "Zero Tolerance Policy" [[link removed]] ,- a policy that successfully revoked licenses from federally licensed firearm dealers if they intentionally falsified records or sold weapons without running a background check. Additionally, Bondi has established a Second Amendment Task Force, designed to further advance Trump's pro-gun agenda.
The Department of Justice is now considering a plan to make it easier for convicted criminals to have guns (yes, including convicted abuser Mel Gibson.) Together, all of these policies make it easier to get a gun, break the law and traffic illegal guns to a state near you.
The attorney general has also argued that when Americans take their legal concerns about the administration to the courts, it creates a “constitutional crisis." However, the real Constitutional crisis is what America is experiencing right now. These orders coincide with efforts by this administration to infringe upon our rights to free speech, peaceful assembly and the protection of the rule of law. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are not protected if our leaders continue to erode our rights and fail to address the public health crisis of gun violence.
We will continue to fight to end gun violence. Our lives depend on it
Won't you join us in this fight
