Dear John,

We’re less than a week away from the opening plenary of AJC Virtual Global Forum 2020 [link removed], June 14-18, and the excitement is palpable!

Today we are delighted to announce that two more world leaders will be joining us on our virtual stage:

Her Excellency Angela Merkel, Federal Chancellor of Germany—who was to have been our host for Global Forum in Berlin—will address the Virtual Global Forum opening plenary.

His Excellency Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece, will discuss the democratic alliance in the Eastern Mediterranean among Greece, Cyprus, the United States, and Israel, and the importance of expanding that vital strategic partnership.

Chancellor Merkel and Prime Minister Mitsotakis join Alternate Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Israel Benjamin (Benny) Gantz and Muslim World League Secretary General Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, who will also address this historic virtual gathering. Stay tuned for additional speaker updates later this week.

We are also pleased to announce an additional Virtual Global Forum debate:

“Election 2020: Debating American Values and Interests,” a discussion of the competing visions that the Democratic and Republican parties will offer American voters come November, featuring Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Biden for President and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State (2015-2017) Antony Blinken and U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor (2017) and author of Revolution: Trump, Washington and “We the People” KT McFarland.

This debate will be in addition to “The Future of the West Bank: Two Israeli Perspectives,” a discussion of whether Israel should extend its sovereignty to parts of the West Bank, and “The Hate Speech Debate: Should Free Speech Be Limited?”, a conversation on how democracies should grapple with the challenges posed by hate speech.

As a reminder, the full Virtual Global Forum program will be available from the comfort of your home and free of charge. While we hope you will join us for the entire program, you may sign up for as many programs as you are able to attend virtually.

Please be sure to visit the AJC Virtual Global Forum 2020 webpage [link removed] and sign up to receive an update when registration opens for the various sessions.
