Legislation Happening in Washington, D.C.

Budget Resolution Vote

Today, I voted in favor of advancing the budget reconciliation process. This vote allows House Republicans to continue working towards delivering historic savings, securing our border, and making America great again. This bill would deliver much-needed resources to the border and support our border patrol agents; invest in technology to improve border enforcement; and complete the building of the border wall. I am working every day to enact President Trump’s America First agenda.

H.R. 1526—No Rogue Rulings Act (NORRA) of 2025
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
H.R. 1526 would limit the power of district judges in issuing nationwide injunctions.
The bill addresses growing concerns over judicial overreach, particularly instances where individual district judges halt executive policies.
KEY POINTS:
Congress must act to ensure rogue judges don’t block the lawful exercise of executive power.
A single judge should not have the authority to unilaterally issue rulings that affect the entire nation.
Left-leaning judges are trying to stall President Trump’s efforts to fulfill the American people’s mandate.

H.R. 22—Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
H.R. 22 would strengthen American elections by requiring in-person proof of U.S. citizenship when individuals register to vote in federal elections.
It requires states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls and equips them with the tools to do so.
KEY POINTS:
Only U.S. citizens should participate in our election process.
House Republicans want to restore trust in America’s election system, protect the ballot box from foreign election interference, and work with President Trump to make elections secure.

S.J.Res.18—A joint resolution disapproving the rule submitted by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) relating to "Overdraft Lending: Very Large Financial Institutions."
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
S.J.Res.18 would reverse the Biden Administration rule from the CFPB that requires large banks to either impose a $5 daily maximum overdraft fee or charge consumers based on the actual cost and loss incurred by the bank for overdrafts.
KEY POINTS:
By reversing this regulation, we are reducing the risk of pushing consumers towards higher-cost alternatives.
The rule avoids increased banking fees that could result from regulatory changes.

S.J. Res.28— A joint resolution disapproving the rule submitted by the CFPB relating to "Defining Larger Participants of a Market for General-Use Digital Consumer Payment Applications."
WHAT THE BILL DOES:
S.J.Res.28 would reverse the Biden Administration rule that allows the CFPB to regulate non-bank entities completing 50 million digital consumer transactions per year.
This rule imposes additional compliance burdens on small businesses using digital payment platforms like Venmo and contactless payments.
KEY POINTS:
By reversing this rule we are preventing excessive regulations that could increase costs for digital payment providers.
House Republicans are making American small businesses competitive and are working to spur innovation and promote business growth.
