We asked, and you delivered.
In response to the Trump Administration freezing and later terminating our U.S. government funding, we asked you to add your name to our petition calling for the restoration of federal funds for UNFPA’s lifesaving work to support women and girls worldwide.
Thousands of people from every state in the United States and two territories signed on — signaling nationwide support of funding for women and girls. And the impact of your signature is huge.
There’s more: The UNFPA Executive Director Dr. Kanem shared the petition at an all-UNFPA staff meeting, spotlighting the power of our advocacy. Our team across the globe was extremely heartened and encouraged that many Americans do not stand for the defunding of foreign aid and UNFPA's programs.

And we delivered the petition, filled with thousands of your signatures, to Representative Chrissy Houlahan’s office. She introduced the Support UNFPA Funding Act to bring back federal resources to UNFPA’s lifesaving work. The thousands of signatures from people like you have become a key messaging point in demonstrating that Americans care about women and girls around the world, and it’s even mentioned in the bill.

Thank you for using your voice and speaking out to help bring back federal funding for UNFPA. Your signature made a real difference for women and girls around the world. This is a powerful reminder that when we all work together, we can achieve incredible things and drive real change.
