Republicans in the House just passed a voter suppression bill – and now
it’s speeding toward the Senate.

This bill is about rigging elections, not protecting them. The bill would
force people to jump through new bureaucratic hoops just to register to
vote – requiring specific citizenship documents every single time they
register – even if they’ve already proven they’re eligible!

And let’s be honest: this bill isn’t about fairness – it’s about fear.
Fear of a rising, diverse electorate that’s rejecting right-wing
extremism.

Republicans are pushing this because they know the voters they’re trying
to silence – young people, voters of color, immigrant communities – are
the very ones most likely to vote them out. So, they’re changing the
rules.

This bill throws up new, unnecessary barriers to registration under the
false pretense of “election integrity.” But the real goal is to intimidate
and exclude the very voters who are powering a multiracial democracy –
especially communities of color and immigrants.

The House just approved this so-called “SAVE Act.” Now it’s up to the
Senate to shut it down.

Let’s be clear: this bill is built on a lie. There is no evidence of
widespread noncitizen voting – and there never has been. Every credible
analysis confirms it’s incredibly rare, and our election systems already
have safeguards in place to prevent it.

This bill is about protecting power, not protecting elections. It’s about
using fear and disinformation to shut down the growing, multiracial
electorate that Republicans are desperate to silence.

If this bill becomes law, it will block countless eligible citizens from
registering, derail voter registration drives, and lead to mass purges of
the rolls – with no requirement to even notify the voters being removed.
It’s targeted. It’s calculated. And it’s wrong.

It’s anti-voter and anti-democracy. The Senate must stop this bill.
