TDLR is seeking Electrician Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to serve on our Examination Review Committee (ERC) and to assist our Education and Examination Division with examination review, maintenance, development, and creation. SMEs are tasked with ensuring state examinations for licensure uphold stringent standards and are continually up to date by referencing current materials.
If you are interested in becoming a SME, please complete the Electrician Examination Development Committee Application and send it in by May 16, 2025. TDLR staff will review all eligible Master Electricians, Journeyman and Residential Appliance Installers and select the SMEs.
All SMEs receive training on their role and must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). The SME position tasks at a minimum include the following:
* Development of examination questions and answers.
* Referencing codes, rules, laws, and approved curriculum or textbooks.
* Reviewing or amending examination items for performance.
* Traveling to Austin to participate in the ERC process.
