Dear Friend,
The first few months of the Trump Administration have brought unprecedented changes: mass firings at critical agencies like the Social Security Administration and National Institutes of Health, recissions of federal funding for non-profits and infrastructure projects, and economic chaos precipitated by reckless tariffs have radically undermined our government. I know there is deep uncertainty and concern here in Connecticut as to what these new policies may mean for you and your loved ones. We are continuing to fight back -- in the courts, on the House floor, through the media, and at organized rallies. While the implementation and constitutionality of some actions remain to be determined, there are two things I would like you to know for certain.
First, it remains my great, enduring privilege to represent you in Congress. I will be emphatic in my advocacy for the federal funding, civil rights protections, and national programs on which Southwestern Connecticut depends.
Second, as your representative, I do my job best when I hear from you so please get in touch and share your thoughts with me and, should you need assistance with a federal agency, please contact my Bridgeport office at (203) 333-6600. Read on to see what I’ve learned from the non-profits, advocates, and constituents I’ve met with over the past few weeks.
Town Halls:
In March, I held three Town Halls – in Norwalk, Fairfield, and by phone – to provide constituents a forum to express their concerns. In all, I fielded questions for nearly six hours, with topics ranging from how Elon Musk and DOGE are impacting vital federal funding to the future of Medicaid and Social Security to national security threats. Thank you to all who attended for your candor and passion – I have thought a lot about what you voiced and will be sure to share your stories in Washington.
