Idaho Fights to #SaveGirlsSports

John,

Recent polling shows that most Americans do not think males should compete in female sports. But astonishingly, men can and do compete in women’s sports in nearly every state throughout the country. Men are crowding our girls out of athletics programs designed for girls. Female athletes are losing competitions and finding themselves deprived of opportunities and scholarships. And it isn’t fair.

That is why Idaho is pushing back.

I recently shared with you about Idaho’s groundbreaking new law, the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act. This first-in-the-nation law ensures that girls’ sports are just for girls! But as I also shared with you, the ACLU is suing the state of Idaho over the law – an attempt to let boys steal opportunities reserved for girls!

In response to that lawsuit, we invited you to send a note asking the Idaho attorney general to robustly defend this important new protection for girls’ sports. Thousands of you sent him the message that this law is worth defending.

Today, I want to share with you two important updates.

First, thanks to you, the attorney general has filed his response in a court brief late last week, indicating that he plans to defend the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act!

Please join me in thanking Idaho Attorney General Lawrence Wasden for listening to your voice and protecting our girls. Our Action Center makes it easy to contact him. Sending a message only takes a minute of your time, but I know it will be encouraging to the attorney general in light of the pushback he is receiving from the ACLU and their allies.

Second, I’m excited to share with you about a nationwide initiative we’re launching today: the Save Girls’ Sports campaign.

Idaho may be the first state to protect girls’ sports, but it can’t be the last.

The campaign is a response to the ACLU’s lawsuit in Idaho – and a rallying cry for Americans to save girls’ sports in their own state! In the days and weeks to come, we’ll be sharing more details and ways for you to participate. Here’s a hint: Save Girls’ Sports Week is June 21-27, and you won’t want to miss it!

Check out our brand-new website to find out what you can do today – and don’t forget to share with friends!
