Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis will be joining us for a lunchtime Fireside Chat you won't want to miss. She will discuss her housing priorities, wildfire recovery efforts, her vision for the future of housing in CA and answer questions from attendees.

Ambassador Eleni Kounalakis was sworn in as the 50th Lieutenant Governor of California on January 7, 2019, becoming the first woman elected to the position.

Throughout her tenure, she has been a strong housing advocate, supporting California YIMBY-sponsored measures such as SB 684 (Caballero, 2023) and, more recently, co-sponsoring AB 1154 (Carrillo), which eliminates owner-occupancy requirements for Junior ADUs without shared sanitation and exempts ADUs under 500 square feet from parking mandates.

It doesn't matter if you're a seasoned housing advocate or just getting involved for the first time -- we'll make it easy for you to talk with your Assemblymember and/or your State Senator about the transformative legislation we want them to pass in the 2025 session.

In 2025 we want to continue to improve the gender balance and bring more attendees from historically underrepresented communities to meetings with state legislators. We need your help to spread the word and make sure our female presenting neighbors and those from historically underrepresented communities feel welcome and encouraged to join in our meetings with state legislators. We want our delegation to mirror the rich diversity of our beloved state.

We'll introduce you to your Lobby Team, provide training events, talking points and materials ahead of time, along with helpful hints and time to prep with your Lobby Team when we're all gathered in Sacramento on the morning of May 20th, before the actual meetings.
