PEOPLE'S BUDGET LA |
|
|
Mayor Garcetti’s decision to reevaluate his budget to find $150 million to remove from the LAPD budget is TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE. His reapportionment proposal would still leave the LAPD with over 50% of unrestricted funds. We need him to #DefundThePolice.
The People’s Budget toolkit contains key messaging, calling scripts, graphics and more so you can help us advocate for a People’s Budget

Graphic by The Movement For Black Lives. We've also compiled a Guidelines for Safe Protesting. The risk of exposure to COVID-19 is still very real -- especially out in the streets! Consider getting tested for piece of mind, collect data on this virus, and keep our communities as safe and healthy as we can right now. Be sure to wait at least 4 days after attending a protest to get tested for a more accurate result (false negative rates average 20%, so if you feel even the slightest bit sick please STAY HOME).
Unable to join the protests on the ground in Los Angeles? No problem, here are ways to support protests, aid efforts, and bail funds from afar.

Save the date for our chapter-wide June Local Meeting on Saturday, June 20th from 3-5pm. First hour's programming will be open to all, with second hour for members in good standing for debates and voting on chapter resolutions. More details forthcoming.
Deadline for any resolution to be considered for debate must be at this meeting is due Wednesday, June 10th at 11:59pm PST and must be signed by 25 members in good standing or brought forth by a committee. Please email to [email protected] |

You helped us raise over $23k in one month in our Stimulus Solidarity Campaign and have helped 60 individuals who were excluded from receiving federal stimulus checks. This money is directly helping folks in our immigrant communities and for that we all extend thanks for contributing to this campaign of solidarity, not charity.

At this orientation, we'll talk about what capitalism is, how it functions, and why socialism is ideologically opposed to it. Participants will also learn about the history of our organization and our chapter in particular, the current projects we're working on, and how you can get involved.
