| The U.S. Senate is holding an important vote this evening on the Great American Outdoors Act. It is important that you contact your senators as soon as possible to urge them to support this important legislation, which will fully and permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and provide badly needed resources to preserve natural habitats and open spaces as well as address the $20 billion backlog in deferred maintenance that is plaguing our national parks and other federally-managed public lands. It takes just a few minutes right now to make a difference. Email or call your senators’ offices and ask them to support the Great American Outdoors Act. Especially as we deal with the pandemic, we need to improve access to the great outdoors and help get Americans back to work. We need to pass full and permanent LWCF funding and restore our parks. The authors of this legislation have called it a “once in a lifetime” opportunity to preserve our parks and public lands for generations to come.
