Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It’s been a busy few weeks in Washington, and you may have seen CRES applaud Sens. John Curtis (R-Utah), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) for leading a letter, sent to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.), emphasizing the importance of protecting energy tax credits that are critical to advancing President Trump’s energy dominance agenda.
This show of support from the Senate, alongside the significant bloc within the House led by Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.), cannot be overstated. Right now, building upon the open Republican support for clean energy tax credits is the most critical piece of the work we are doing at CRES. We know these tax incentives are driving billions of dollars in investments, particularly in red states and districts.
According to data from the Rhodium Group, just since September 2022, more than $502 billion in clean energy investments have been announced—and 78 percent of that is in Republican-held districts. Letting these credits diminish or be axed will stunt innovation, stall economic growth and cede leadership to competitors like China.
While these successes point toward continued progress, CRES isn’t taking its foot off the accelerator and has been actively engaging on Capitol Hill, educating key lawmakers and staff about what’s at stake. The reality is Congress is looking to cut costs after decades of overspending, and our advocacy and partnerships with top stakeholders are necessary to ensure that spending cuts are made with precision and not at the expense of proven, bipartisan policies.
Our work extends beyond the halls of Congress, and we’d love to have your support. Please reach out to learn more about how we can work together to protect policies that put more money in the pockets of consumers and businesses while advancing all forms of American-made energy.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the Department of Energy is taking critical steps every day to help American families prosper. By removing burdensome regulations put in place by the Biden administration, we are returning freedom of choice to the American people, ensuring consumers can choose the home appliances that work best for their lives and budgets. This power should not belong to the federal government.” – U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright in a statement.

“Arizona leads the way in the production of clean energy technologies, and I look forward to working with Chairwoman Miller-Meeks to grow and strengthen this important group. As clean and sustainable energy advances, it is critical that we pursue an all-the-above strategy that invests in innovation and supports domestic production, all while balancing the need to reduce emission and steward the environment. Together, we can drive policies that enhance energy security, create jobs, and ensure a cleaner, more sustainable future for generations to come.” – Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-Ariz.) said in a statement.

“American workers at GE Vernova factories are powering the world as we see a historic investment in the energy sector. The roughly $70 million we’ve invested in Pensacola since 2023 is enabling us to help meet America’s and the world’s accelerating energy demand. Such strategic investments and the jobs they create in the U.S. aim to both help our customers meet the doubling of demand and accelerate American innovation and technology development to boost the country’s energy security and global competitiveness.” – GE Vernova CEO Scott Strazik in a statement.

About Senate Republicans’ letter of support for clean energy tax credits...
“We are grateful for Sens. Curtis, Murkowski, Tillis and Moran’s leadership in protecting clean energy tax credits, which play a critical role advancing President Trump’s robust energy agenda. These important incentives provide certainty to American companies that want to invest, innovate and deploy more American homegrown energy. Nationwide, these tax credits continue to build upon President Trump’s goal of achieving energy dominance, all while creating new, high-paying jobs reigniting communities across the country. The signatories of this letter are right: Thoughtful and scalpel-like approaches to energy and manufacturing tax incentives demand precise action, not an indiscriminatory, sledgehammer approach.” – CRES President Heather Reams in a statement.
