Hi John,
It’s been a minute since we’ve been in touch, and I hope you’ve been holding strong. I wanted to make sure you saw this — because I think it’s right up our alley.
The Rural Democratic Leaders Conference is happening Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 12 to 4 PM ET (9 AM to 1 PM PT).
It’s a virtual gathering of rural civic leaders, organizers, influencers, and Democrats from across the country to lay down a national strategy to push back against the relentless attacks from Donald Trump and Elon Musk — not to mention defending the Post Office, Medicaid, Social Security, and our rural schools. But more than that, it’s about rebuilding the Democratic Party from the ground up, one small town and rural community at a time.
We’re going to lean on the experience of rural and red-state Democrats who’ve been organizing in tough terrain for years. We’ll walk away with specific, actionable steps to lift up Democratic candidates and values in every corner of the country.
If you’re ready to take your rural organizing to the next level, or just want to help rebuild the Democratic brand in our communities, you can register for the conference here.
For a little personal update: last fall, I stepped away from RuralOrganizing.org, our sister organization, to serve as the National Rural Engagement Director for the Harris-Walz campaign. It was a wild ride — one of the most challenging, inspiring, and, yes, frustrating chapters of my career. While the election didn’t go the way we hoped, what stuck with me was the fire I saw in rural Democrats everywhere — folks putting in countless hours to build power where it matters most.
Since returning, I’ve been reflecting on all we learned from that experience. That’s why we’re hosting this conference — to share those lessons and kick off a national campaign that puts them into action.
Everything we’ll cover is built from what we saw and heard in small towns and rural battlegrounds last year. Local Democrats out there have a clearer, bolder vision for the future of our party than anything coming out of DC — and this conference is about lifting up their work and learning from their successes.
I’d love to see you there.
Warmly,
Matt Hildreth, RuralOrganizing.org and RuralVote.org
