Getting Things Done for Michigan I am proud to announce that as a first-term Member of Congress, I was chosen to be the Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Technology Modernization. As the leader of that committee, I was proud to have my very first bill pass the House this week, the Clear Communication for Veterans Claims Act (H.R. 10). This legislation will require the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to make significant improvements to its overly complicated claims process and streamline communications with veterans. This legislation is long overdue. I was also proud to have VA Secretary Doug Collins come to the 7th District and tour two of our local VA clinics, and assuring our veterans that the reforms being implemented by the Trump Administration will make the VA more responsive to their needs with no cuts in benefits. And finally, I was incredibly proud to play a role in securing the release of two Michiganders from a Mexican maximum security prison last week. |
